The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is observed by millions of people on the 15th day of the eighth month on Chinese lunar calendar with a full moon at night. This year, the day falls on September 10. Presented by China Media Group (CMG), the annual gala, also known as Qiuwan in Chinese, began at 8 p.m. Beijing Time on September 10.
Chinese singer Li Yugang sang "A Drink to Ask the Moon" in the gala. The lyrics of the song is from a Chinese poem by Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty.
