The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is observed by millions of people on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar with a full moon at night. This year, the day falls on September 10. Presented by China Media Group (CMG), the annual gala, also known as Qiuwan in Chinese, began at 8 p.m. Beijing Time on September 10.
Chinese singer Li Yuchun sang "Stars in the Milky Way" to the audience in the gala and interacted with taikonauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe. The three taikonauts sent their best wishes to the Chinese people all over the world.
