Neil Cairns meets a team of scientists at the University of Cambridge who are studying crow and related birds to help understand the power of perception in animals, their expectations and their ability to anticipate the future.

Dr Nicola Clayton and her team are employing the use of magic with tests devised by in-house magicians and psychologists to test the birds' cognitive abilities with magic tricks designed to fool humans.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that in 2019 an estimated 17.9 million people died from cardiovascular diseases - a figure that amounts to 32% of all deaths. The majority were due to heart attack and stroke. As people are now living longer, often with multiple diseases, this will become more common.
