Hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated in Southern China due to heavy rainfall and flooding. It is witnessing its highest rainfall since 1961, with severe floods and landslides as a result of the downpours. Houses collapsed into floodwater in the city of Yongzhou in Hunan Province. In the city of Yingde in Guangdong Province, footage showed police officers rescuing a woman who was stranded in her flooded car. They navigated the swift floodwater by holding onto a rope and an iron chain. A police officer eventually reached the car, put a rope around the woman, and was able to bring her to safety.
